Epicurious for iPhone and iPad lets you bring your handheld device into the kitchen and to the grocery store to serve as a cooking companion, and it's one of the best in the category. The home screen on the iPhone version only gives you quick links to seasonal and sponsored recipes, but by entering a keyword into the search box at the bottom of the interface lets you browse thousands of online recipes.

If you want more control over your search, you can skip the search box and hit the search button at the bottom of the screen. This lets you search by your chosen main ingredient, type of meal, dietary considerations, and seasonal recipes. Search results are extremely easy to browse, with only the recipe name, an image, and user reviews for the recipe--you get to the bulk of the recipe by hitting View Recipe. A swipe to the left moves on to the next recipe in your search results, making it easy to find something to fit your mood. When you find recipes you like, you can add them to your favorites for later use.
